The Robot Group's laser scanner effort seeks to hack a state
of the art proximity mapping system on a shoestring budget. Engineers,
Bill Craig and Alex Iles, are building on previous experience in
robotics research with the Odetics gantry mounted laser scanner. They
envision cool VR imagery demos as a first demonstration of the homebrew
scanner.
