Low End Microcontroller Intro Special Interest Group
We were able to complete all these tasks as part of a Hello world (blinky led) project
1 Using a pic16F683 8 pin micro, build a circuit on a breadboard with an LED and support components.
2 Design the circuit in Eagle cad and create a board template which if printed could be used to build the same circuit on an etched PCB. Eagle also has a Linux version
3 On a windows laptop with MPLAB then demonstrate using it to produce the blinky software application
4 Compile a PIC assembly program that I found and ported to the '683 chip but havent yet tested.
5 Step through it in the simulator to see if it is working
6 Install a PIC programmer like ICD2 then figure out how to use it, connect the programmer to the windows machine and the chip and flash the application to the PIC
7 Power up the breadboard and see that the LED blinks
